Author Guidelines

The manuscript can be sent in English, Czech or Slovak.

The text of the manuscript must be prepared in Microsoft Word (Microsoft Office 2000 or later). Use single-line spacing for the text, including legends. Times New Roman font 12pt is recommended, with a text width of 15 cm. Each section should begin on a new page. For the manuscript as a whole, number the pages starting with the title page. The page number should be placed at the bottom of the page in the center. Please use the following order: Title page including acknowledgments, abstract and keywords, text, and literature review.

Tables may also be created in Microsoft Word (or another table editor), which can be edited. Place each table on a separate page, number the tables consecutively in the order in which they are first cited in the text, and add a short title to each table. Explanatory notes should be placed in the table footer, never in the header. In the footer, explain all abbreviations used in each table. Check that each table is cited in the text. Files should be named using the same conventions as the text (Vomacka.Parkinson.tables.doc). Similarly, graphs and diagrams are to be editable (MS Excel) and include source data (xls, eps, wmf, emf, cdr, al, pdf). Pictures send in tiff, eps, or jpg format. Check that each picture is cited in the text. Tables created using Microsoft Word insert to a text file, for Legends to figures. Tables send as a separate file.

Photographs should be sent with the necessary print resolution (300 dpi) as follows:

  • The minimum width of a picture fitting the width of a journal column should be 700 pixels (6 cm);

  • The minimum width of a picture fitting the width of two journal columns should be 1,500 pixels (12.5 cm);

  • The minimum width of a picture fitting the width of three journal columns should be 2,200 pixels (18.5 cm).

Legends for graphic materials should be added to the text file for References. If any symbols, arrows, numbers or letters have been used in the description of the image, explain these in the legend.

Use only standard abbreviations. Avoid abbreviations in the heading and abstract. The full name must precede the first use of an abbreviation – with the exception of standard abbreviations for units of measurement.

The abstract should not exceed 1 400 characters including spaces. The abstract must acquaint the reader with the aims of the study, with its basic approaches, the principal facts determined (if possible give specific data and their statistical significance) and with the main conclusions. It must emphasise new and important aspects of the work. A structured abstract must contain the following parts: Aims, Materials and Methodology, Results, Conclusions. Underneath the abstract the author should give 3 to 10 keywords or short keyphrases. All key words that best describe the topic and content of your paper must be selected from the Medical Subject Headings key word database („https://meshb.nlm.nih.gov/search“, and their Czech translation „http: //www. medvik.cz/medvik/search_titles., http: //www.medvik.cz/ medvik/ search_titles.

Literature

References to the literature which occur only in tables or graphics legends are numbered in relation to the order in which the reference to the relevant table or graphic first occurs in the text. References to the literature should be written using the model given below. Titles of journals are abbreviated in line with the style used by the Index Medicus. This list can be obtained at the web address (http://www.nlm.nih.gov). Works published in Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine should be cited as „Rehabil Fyz Lek“. Avoid references to abstracts. References to work accepted for publication but not yet printed should be shown as „In-print“. Authors must obtain written permission to cite such work and also confirmation that the work has been accepted for publication. Information from submitted but not yet accepted manuscripts must be cited in the text as „unpublished communication“, and only with written permission from the source. Avoid citing personal communications unless they are the only source of important information that cannot be obtained from other public sources – in this case, include in the text the name of the person and the date of the communication in brackets.

For scientific communication, authors must obtain written permission and confirmation of accuracy from the source of the communication.
