Abstract

In the Czech Republic, the organization of the blood transfusion service operates in a decentralized way, i.e. there is no unified system that would allow all blood banks and transfusion service facilities to have an overview of the availability of transfusion preparations. Based on this fact, a system called the Transfusion Products Marketplace was designed. This system would allow all facilities to have an overview of the availability of transfusion products and be able to buy and sell them in real time thanks to regular updates. The Society for Transfusion Medicine ČLS JEP (STL) developed a questionnaire survey, the purpose of which was to find out the necessary information for the proper functioning of the system and its implementation. In this article, the questions from the questionnaire survey are selected and the respondents' answers are described in more detail regarding the current situation from the point of view of blood transfusion facilities and their opinion on the emerging system. The results show that the respondents would welcome the information system of the Transfusion Products Market, as they consider it beneficial. Based on the results, it is possible to optimize individual parts of the system to meet the needs and requirements of both transfusion facilities and blood banks, and it can be successfully put into operation.
