Nascent fibroid as a cause of urinary retention
Keywords:
myoma – bulky diseases – nascent uterine myoma – hysterectomy – urinary retentionAbstract
We present the case of a 47-year-old woman with a nascent myoma, which at first sight looks like a malignant process in the cervix and caused bladder distension and hydronephrosis. A fully developed image of the "bulky syndrome" dominated - lymphedema of the lower limbs and lower abdomen, pain in the lower abdomen, constipation, secondary cystitis, paradoxical ischuria. A permanent urinary catheter was inserted and makes a gradual adjustment of renal functions. Due to the issues and the benign histological findings from the biopsy, an abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingectomy was indicated at our institution. In the postoperative period, spontaneous micturition is restored and bladder function is normalized and the general condition improves.
