A report describing the case of a young and healthy pregnant patient who manifested tick-borne encephalitis in her peripartal period. This neuroinfection is rare in pregnant women. A more severe encephalomyelitic form of the disease, resulting in lasting consequences, occurred in the patient even though she had recently undergone a proper vaccination. In the course of 11-month observation her newborn showed no symptoms of the disease nor psy-chomotor developmental disorders.
