Abstract

Aim of the study: To sum information about possibilities of reconstruction of severe obstetrical injuries including anal sphincter injuries.

Methods: Review of available information about possibilities of reconstruction of severe obstetrical injuries including anal sphincter and comparison with own results in developing countries.

Conclusion: Severe obstetrical injuries are major trauma that require adequate and early treatment. In developing countries the likelihood of perineal dehiscention and faecal incontinence is more common. Even after few years with complete perineal dehiscence there is a hope to improve the faecal incontinence if proper suture is carried out.
