  1. Sections of the journal

  1. Requirements for manuscripts
  1. General requirements

Manuscripts written in Czech, Slovak, or English are accepted. Manuscripts sent to the editors must be formulated definitively; no additional major changes are allowed.

The editors will decide individually whether the imprimatur of the head of the department should be provided.

Only manuscripts that have not been published elsewhere and will not be submitted to another professional journal can be accepted for publication in Transfusion and Hematology Today, with the exception of congress abstracts and guidelines. This will require the agreement of the editorial boards of the journals.

  1. Spelling and abbreviations The manuscript must conform to the current rules of Czech or Slovak spelling. We recommend avoiding Anglicisms in a Czech or Slovak text. British English must be used for submissions prepared outside the Czech Republic and Slovakia. If it is necessary to abbreviate a frequently repeated expression in the text, the abbreviation should be given in brackets after the first use of this expression in the text. Abbreviations should not be used in the title.
  2. Nomenclature In order to avoid indirect advertising, the generic name is used for specialised medicines; the product name used by the manufacturer may only be mentioned once (at the point of its first occurrence in the text), and the use of the manufacturing name in the title should be avoided.
  3. Use of other materials Materials (diagrams, figures, graphs, etc.) taken entirely from other publications may only be published with the permission of the person/publisher who holds the copyright. Permission should also be sought from the authors of works in press, unpublished data, or personal communications. Consent is not required if the material is modified by the authors.
  4. Ethical considerations When reporting on clinical trials with patients or patientsʼ case reports, the manuscript should contain a statement that the study has been approved by the ethics committee. As a general rule, patient names or initials or hospital or protocol numbers should not be reported in the text or appendices.
  5. The authorsʼ contributions to the manuscript must be indicated in all cases except for contributions by a single author. Each co-author must have made a significant contribution to the design, preparation, acquisition, or analysis and interpretation of the data, written the first draft (or parts of the manuscript), or critically revised or commented on the manuscript. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
  6. Conflict of interest In the case of support for a study or experiment by a healthcare business, this support must be declared. The editors of the journal, on the recommendation of the Board of the ČLS JEP, require authors to declare whether or not the work has been influenced (directly or indirectly) by corporate interests. The recommended minimum text is:
  7. a) The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest in relation to the topic, development, and publication of this article and that the development and publication of the manuscript was not supported by any pharmaceutical company.
  8. b) The author declares that he/she has been contracted by XY in the past 24 months in relation to the origin and topic of the article, has received financial support from XY for the work and publication, has been supported by XY to participate in a professional event, is a member of the Advisory Board of XY, etc. (select as appropriate).
  9. Manuscript processing Manuscripts (prepared in Word, Times New Roman font size 12, 1.5 line spacing) are delivered in electronic form via the OJS editorial system. In the electronic form of the manuscripts, indentation is not used; only paragraphs are separated by the 'Enter' key, not the normal end of the line, and automatic paragraph numbering (especially in the literature section) cannot be used.

Pictorial documentation includes graphs, diagrams, tables, figures, photographs, instrument outputs, etc. All legends should be listed on a separate page at the end of the manuscript. Check that each appendix is cited in the text.

Tables – prepare each on a separate page. Above the table, a legend is given, which includes the serial number (Table 1) and the title, and below the table, notes and explanations are given.

Graphs – send curved graphs in editable form , e.g. in xls, eps, wmf, emf, cdr, ai, or pdf format, not in raster form (jpg).

Images – send electronically in tiff, eps, or jpg formats, number them in the order in which they are cited in the text, and save them individually as separate files. Check that each image is cited in the text. Images should be supplied at the required print quality (at 100% magnification the image must not be out of focus) as follows:

  • a picture one journal column wide must be at least 700 pixels (6 cm) wide,
  • an image two journal columns wide must be a minimum of 1500 pixels (12.5 cm) wide,
  • an image three journal columns wide must be at least 2200 pixels (18.5 cm) wide.

References in the text, tables, and figure captions are numbered in Arabic numerals in the square brackets. For all types of citations, the form given in Index Medicus is used. If there are not more than 6 authors, all authors are listed. If there are more, the first 3 authors are listed with the addition of “et al,”. It is also recommended to include the DOI of the article after the standard citation.
